Welcome to the Abbots Langley Foot Clinic

Lead Podiatrist Juan Catano is an experienced, qualified podiatrist (chiropodist) who has been trained to diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate foot and lower limb conditions to keep patients active and pain-free.

What is Chiropody and Podiatry?

Chiropody & Podiatry involves the care of the human foot. Chiropodists and Podiatrists are highly skilled health professionals who have been trained to prevent, diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs.

They also prevent and correct deformities, keep people mobile and active, relieve pain, and treat infections (Society of Chiropodist & Podiatrist, 2009).

What is the Difference?

Chiropody and Podiatry are essentially the same thing. Podiatry is simply the modern name for Chiropody, as the profession has evolved to include extensive training over a 3-4 year full-time course and industry regulation.

Podiatrists are fully trained to treat a wide range of foot conditions, from biomechanical assessments of the feet to diabetic treatments and removal of hard skin. Therefore, if you are used to visiting a chiropodist, rest assured that there is no difference in visiting a podiatrist and knowing that your feet are in safe hands.

What You Can Expect

Our goal is to help you maintain healthy feet. If you’re struggling to cut your nails, manage hard skin, or experiencing foot pain, one of our treatments can benefit you.

When you contact the clinic, our receptionists will schedule a convenient appointment for a consultation or treatment. Please allow up to 45 minutes for your first appointment, during which we’ll conduct a medical history, assessment, and examination. Subsequent visits may require 30-45 minutes, depending on the treatment needed.

We will discuss your concerns or conditions and offer treatment options to address them. Treatment will only begin with your consent, using sterilised instruments to ensure optimal infection control.

Please bring several pairs of shoes to the appointment. This will help us assess the space within your shoes and the materials they are made of, and also determine the areas of pressure when walking or running.
