Acupuncture at ALC

Acupuncture treatment involves the insertion of fine needles through the skin, which are then briefly left in position. In some cases, manual or low-voltage electrical stimulation may be applied to help the process.

The number of needles used can vary, but it may be as few as two or three. The practitioner will assess each patient’s case, and treatment will be personalised to the individual. Therefore, it is not possible to provide more than this general idea of what your specific treatment might entail.

What should I expect?

Treatment may begin once a week and then be spaced out at longer intervals as the condition improves. Typically, a course of treatment consists of 5 to 8 sessions.

Acupuncture stimulates the nerves in the skin and muscle, leading to various effects. It is known to increase the body’s release of natural painkillers, such as endorphins and serotonin, in the pain pathways of both the spinal cord and the brain. This helps to modify the way pain signals are received.

Acupuncture allows Chi (Energy) to flow to areas where it is deficient and away from areas where there is an excess, thereby restoring the harmonious energetic balance of the body.
